Snoopycember 2.1: Some Poems and Prompts

Hello, everybody and welcome to week two of Snoopycember! I hope you’ve all been writing some poems or at least just googling ”Snoopy Funney” (sic) and looking at the pictures that appear. It’s been cold and snowy, snowy and cold, around these parts, and I don’t particularly like it. I have only the memory of Joe Cool to keep me strong. And I have the next week of prompt’s for you. So here are those, and after that, I’ve got three Snoopycember poems written from last week‘s prompts that I would like to share. Hope you enjoy!

Snoopycember Prompts Week Two

  1. Snoopy’s name was originally intended to be Sniffy, before Charles Schulz discovered a different comic strip with a dog named Sniffy. Imagine an alternate timeline where Snoopy is Sniffy. Rewrite a scene from your favorite Peanuts special or strip but in a bizarro world with Sniffy the dog. Or just write a poem examining what could have been (hell ain’t that what they‘re all about).
  2. In 2022, Snoopy was sent to the moon. Write describing the moon’s surface from Snoopy’s perspective.
  3. Hypothetically, let’s say you’re in a real bad place and you need someone to talk to. write a poem debating whether you call your parents or Snoopy for help.
  4. Snoopy’s whole personality is a little bittersweet. But he’s a very strong character. He can win or lose, be a disaster, a hero, or anything, and yet it all works out. I like the fact that when he’s in real trouble, he can retreat into a fantasy and thereby escape. -Charles Schulz on Snoopy. Retreat into fantasy with Snoopy. Where would you go and if you had to talk to him about your wins and losses while there, what would that look like?
  5. The beloved beagle is also expected to feature in upcoming merchandise and brand collaborations, ensuring his iconic image remains relevant. This ad copy from microwavable stuffie company, Warmies, Snoopy plush gets to the core of what we all know and love about our beloved beagle, Brand Collaborations! What brand collaboration do you think Snoopy would turn down for ethical reasons? Write a poem where he is turning it down.
  6. Stanley cups, tinny earbuds, plastic crap, oh my! Find the most hyper-specific Snoopy Product you can online and make an erasure poem out of the item description/ad copy.
  7. Youtube search “Snoopy Commercial+ the year you were born.” Watch one of the results and write a poem about it.
  8. Snoopy has 7 siblings: Spike, Andy, Olaf, Marbles, Rover, Belle, and Molly. Choose one of them and write a holiday card from them to Snoopy, or vice-versa.
