Happy Snoopycember!! Here are some writing prompts!!

Hello, all, and welcome. It is finally here. The most festive time of year. It’s Snoopycember. As promised a couple weeks ago, this Thursday’s post will get a little bit more into history and particulars of the tradition, but for now, I want to get some writing prompts out to you, so you can get your Daily Snoopy Poems in, if you so choose. Remember, the challenge is to write a poem about Snoopy every day in the month of December. Don’t think you can do it? I bet you can. And if not, it’s fine to just write a couple. The important thing is that you pay your respects to everyone’s favorite Crazy Little Guy. I’m going to be sending these prompts out a week at a time. So here are the first seven. Remember though, these are nit required. If you‘ve got a different kinda Snoopy poem in your heart on any given day, do not feel beholden to the prompt. Happy writing!

  1. Let's start simple: Introduce yourself to Snoopy. What do you want him to know about you, what do you already know about him? If you need a jumpstart, start like it’s a letter, with Dear Snoopy as your first line.
  2. Snoopy is terrified of the icicles that hang off of his doghouse in the winter--write a poem where you try to help Snoopy get over that fear, using personal examples of time you have overcome your own fears.
  3. Did you know that Snoopy owns an original Van Gogh, hung up in his classic red dog house? Write a poem that is a conversation between Vincent and Snoopy.
  4. Companies love Snoopy. They love putting his face on stuff and selling it for money. This is both a blessing and a curse. Write a poem in which Snoopy examines his co-option by evil capitalist monsters.
  5. Snoopy has decided to fight back. Write a poem in which Snoopy yells at your least favorite CEO.
  6. Snoopy has returned home wearing a green hat and has asked you to re-contextualize your relationship with him outside of the confines of capitalism and consumerism. Write a poem about the fondest holiday memory you have involving Snoopy.
  7. Snoopy loves root beer! Write an ode to your favorite drink trying to get Snoopy to try it.

There we have it folks! Once again, wishing you all a Snoopycember to remember!
