An Audible, and a Poem

Hi, everybody! Are you having a weird week? Cause I'm having a really weird week. As such, our regularly scheduled programming on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be delayed. I apologize to Michelangelo and Team, but if I am being honest it feels like a weird time to be professing my love for Jim Henson Studios and also the little rat doll thing they had play non-anthropomorphic Master Splinter in the flashbacks to his old life. It is, of course, a more vital time than ever to do those things, and so I will get back to it soon, I promise.
So, today is going to be mostly a poem-only day. It is a piece I have been working on as part of a bigger multimedia chapbook thing I want to make where each poem is represented and integrated into a larger painting/collage. I've had a lot of fun working on this project, and so I want to share a little but of it now. If I ever finish it, it will be a 4-foot ish tall canvas with lots of dumb happy meal toys and weird Guiness World Record cutouts and poems and all sorts of whacky stuff all over it. For today, here is a poem-in-progress that I consider a bit of an anchor piece for the project. This is kind of the poem that made me realize what the project actually is, or what I want it to "say" or whatever the hell. It is called "Staying Alive" and I hope you like it.
